Garage Door Repair Basics
Garage doors last a long time if they’re properly maintained, but over time they can have issues that require repair. For example, the opener may stop working, the springs can get off track or even break, and the door might fall down. Unless you’re an expert in these matters, it’s usually best to call a professional.
How do you fix a garage door roller?
The cost of a garage door repair depends on what’s wrong with the door. A minor job, such as applying lubricant or removing debris, might only run you a few bucks. But a new motor or circuit board will probably cost you between $200 and $500.
Rust
It’s important to keep the rust to a minimum on your garage door, as it can quickly spread and eat through the steel. A sanding or steel-wool pad should take care of the problem, but it’s also wise to consider having a professional come and apply a protective coat to prevent further damage.
Off track
If your garage door isn’t lining up with the tracks, a professional can usually bend the tracks back into shape and realign the garage door. They’ll also be able to lubricate the rollers and hinges and replace any broken ones.
